Sketchbook

Cameras have some pretty cool features these days. I'm looking to upgrade mine, and to try some different models out before I buy, I've found a great place for renting camera gear (see the banner ad at lower right in the sidebar). So I've had a pretty cool new one to play with for the last week. One of the things I've not played around with much until now is in-camera image editing. It can do a lot of different effects. These are 2 of my favorites. (and yeah, you really gotta click on the photos to see the effect).

Gig Night

We have a lot of gigs coming up. We'll be pretty busy this Summer. There might be quite a few more guitar-themed photos on this blog because of it. Tonight we were at the Rumor Mill. Next week, we're at Herb's.

Grunge

I was reviewing my "Garden Shed" photo from a few days ago, and along with the words choppy and sharp-edged (in its description), the word "Grunge" popped into my head. So I thought for today's photo I'd try to shoot some Grunge. Think Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc...

Mower

I found the mower in the shed. But this isn't it. This one belongs to my folks. This would eat our little wimpy mower for lunch. So yeah, no - I didn't want to go through this again so I borrowed a mower today that could handle the job.

Garden Shed

Yep. Time to find that mower and dig it out of the shed - I know it's in there somewhere. This is me playing with HDR photography (High Dynamic Range). I did 9 shots of this scene going from way underexposed to way overexposed, and then combined them all into one, utilizing the best exposure value for different areas of the scene. There are lots of different styles of HDR imagery - I tend to like the choppy, sharp edged style like this. (as you can probably tell from all the other choppy, sharp edged non-HDR stuff I've been posting all year).

Thoroughfare

This is one of the busy streets on my route. There's gotta be... jeez, at least 3 residences on this one alone.

Yellow Flowers

I thought these were daffodils when I shot them, but now I'm not so sure. They look a little different. But anyway, they're kinda cool. These were in the front planter area at the County Public Works offices. Anyone know what kind of flowers they are?

Rose Lane Sunburst

This is another shot from a few nights ago when I posted the one from the Fairgrounds (with all the framework going on). No time today to shoot anything, so I had to dig into the archive to put something up. This one is from right off of Rose Lane and Argyle Ave.

Alien Plant Life

I've driven past this quite a few times and finally today I decided to stop and snap a quick photo just to get it out of my head. And now, the more I look at it, the more it looks like it came from another planet. Anyone know what this is called?

Reflecting Pond

Does this pond look familiar? It's the same one I shot back in February, (at this link) but this time it's from a different angle, and more close up. I guess I just figure ya can't go wrong with water and reflections...

Framed Sunset

I didn't think this one had enough framing going on in the image the way I shot it through the structure up there at the fairgrounds, so I added some more with Photoshop. The ghosted "picture frame" around the edges is the Photoshop part.

The Colors of Spring

You can tell Spring is here by all the colors everywhere. Out in front of Marketplace, I couldn't pass up this display of watering... um. Sprayers? Spouts? Wands? What do you call these things anyways? Well whatever they are, I thought they'd make a nice photo for today. But the photo that gave me the title for today's post is the one I shot right before this one... below.

Foot Passengers Only

What's wrong with this picture? A ferry full of cars at the passenger only dock, that's what. A lot of unfortunate drivers were turned around and taken elsewhere because the transfer span on the main dock (that's the ramp you drive on) was out of commission. They finally got it fixed late this afternoon.

Ground Cover

Probably the best thing about doing a 365 project is how it causes you to really see things around you during the day. I probably would have stepped on this without a second thought if not for this blog. (it's right where I cut through to deliver packages on Mullis Street.)

Gig Night

Another gig tonight so not a whole lot of time for shooting photos. But I did get a quick shot of our stage before the show. We played at the Rumor Mill tonight. And after a bit of processing in Photoshop, here's my photo for the day.

Electric Footwear

These shoes are rarin' to go. So much they're leaping off the chair. They don't want to go for a walk, they want to go for a run. I wonder what would happen if I plugged them in?
