LaConner
Busy day running around the mainland takin' care of business. It poured down rain driving between Mt. Vernon and LaConner (wipers on full speed - don't do that too often). Then after my appointment in LaConner, the rain quit and the sky was looking beautiful with the pre-sunset light highlighting the clouds to the west. To get a better view of that, I headed over to the channel and that's where I found this wire sculpture on a gangplank. You can just make out the famous orange LaConner arch bridge through the left side of it. And if you look really closely along the shoreline you can see a Great Blue Heron.

The Neighborhood
I took a break from working this afternoon and noticed these wild looking clouds and the beautiful light of late afternoon and had to grab a photo...

Before the Sunset
The sky yesterday about 1-1/2 hours before that awesome sunset. I wish I would have been able to go somewhere with a good view to shoot that, but I guess this will have to do - This is looking toward the West down our street while there were rumblings of thunder in the skies.

Angry Sky
First of all, yeah I know - I need to change the name of this blog back to "An Occasional Photo" or something like that rather than "Photography Every Day".... I've been missing a lot of days lately. It's all my other blog's fault, honest! But anyways, here's one for today - This is the sky right before it opened up and dumped on us for about 15 minutes. (well maybe 30 minutes before...) It's from several exposures all combined into one HDR and I enhanced it a bit with Photoshop and Lightroom. Shot it from my front yard on my lunch break.

Lightning
Wow two nights in a row we've had a massive lightning storm. That is unheard of around here. Even one night is rare. It blew our power out so I'm posting this from my iPhone. But I shot it with my Nikon. >>Edit - Saturday morning and I'm re-posting a larger version of the photo.<<

Too Bad About That View
Yesterday was the first day of Spring. But today was the first nice day of Spring. It was gorgeous! This is a pond just off someone's driveway where I delivered a package today and it looked so nice I just had to stop and snap a quick photo. Wouldn't it be nice to have this view on a daily commute?

Vernal Equinox
Is it just me or am I starting to sound like a broken record here...? Another day with crazy weather: wind, rain, hail, sun, snow... you name it, we had it today. (well except for "warm and sunny"). But yeah pretty wild. Looked out the in the backyard this afternoon and saw swirling hail and snow. But - Today is the day that light defeats darkness... from here on out, the days are longer than the nights!

Sunset Channel
Another day with a lot of different weather - Sun, rain, hail, snow and then a beautiful sunset over our island on the ferry ride home. This girl and her little brother were diggin' on the cool sea breeze blowing through their hair as daylight faded.

It's Snowing!
Well, not complaining here. At all. Really. I mean the worst day skiing is better than the best day working. But so far, We're not really impressed with the Rocky Mountain powder. I mean, we've skied better ice at Crystal. But it's SNOWING!! With a forecast for 6"-15" new snow tomorrow. So we're hopeful.

Sunny Blue Sky
Freezing. Snow. Hail. Rain. Wind. And then blue skies and sun! We've had quite a lot of weather in the last few days.

Popcorn Snow
We had popcorn snow again. Kinda like that granulated stuff I shot in the driveway last month. This time it was almost hail, but not quite (and then yes, we did get some hail later). This shows the edge of our patio where it meets the lawn. I was doing some design work today for a client when I saw the snow coming down. Ran outside, and 1/125th of a second later, I had my photo for the day.

Cannery Sunset
Took a quick break from all the projects I'm working on and ran down to catch the sunset over the old Jackson's Cannery. It was actually a lot darker than it appears here. I wanted to wait until I could do a long exposure to smooth out the water - There was a good breeze and the water was quite choppy.

I'm Kinda Lichen This Fence
OK bad pun, I know, (the title of this entry) but I couldn't resist. I didn't really notice the lichen on the fence rail until I opened this image up on the computer and then it just popped out at me. The thing that caught my eye to begin with (and the reason I bailed out of the truck to shoot this) was the barn reflecting on the water with all the ripples from the rain drops. So a little saturation boost here, a little sharpening/softening there, slight vignette, software rain and here's my photo for today.

Same Backyard; Different Day
I sometimes wish we lived where we had a better view - Mountains, valleys, seascapes... pretty much anything besides the "zoned-light-industrial-junkyard-and-septic-service" area behind our house. So when I want a decent looking photo out back, I need to point the camera up so as not to see the diesel trucks and chain link fencing.

Snow Day
Well they were right, sort of... we did get snow, but I wouldn't say we got "dumped on". Not like the areas south of Seattle anyway. I heard they got over 12" in some areas. But we got enough here to close schools and some businesses, including where I work... SNOW DAY!!! Woohoo!! So I stayed in and got caught up on some important (and overdue) projects. Way cool. But now where did I leave that shovel....?

Crisp Winter Night
This is our driveway and right there by those footprints in the light from the front window is where I shot yesterday's photo. I thought I'd try a long exposure tonight to see what the snow would look like in a nighttime photo. Also, this will be a good comparison for tomorrow morning - they're saying we're supposed to get dumped on tonight. So I guess we'll see in the morning.
