January 3rd - Whatcom Falls

Thank you everyone for your comments on finishing out the year with this thing! What a great experience! I think I would really miss it if I didn't continue into 2010, but at the same time, I don't want the stress of needing a photo every single day, so I'm going to scale it back a bit. But here's my first post for 2010. This was shot on Sunday when we went for a stroll through Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham
2 sec. f/22 iso 100

  1. Nice shot Tim! I've never had much luck with water shots, did you use a ND filter?

  2. Hi Alan - thanks! No, this was just a very gray overcast day, and the falls were surrounded by kind of heavy forest. The iso 100 and the f/22 got the shutter slow enough for this effect. :)

  4. ISO 100, what camera did you use? I thought your go-to cam only went down to 200? I love the silk water effect.

  6. I love the look of the water and the sheen.

I know what you mean about missing the challenge. Maybe I won't stop entirely ...

  9. Beautiful! Glad you finished '09's challenge successfully... me, not so much. Well, just not the every single day part. :) I post when I want to on my photo blog and dedicate more of my attention to what I call my "regular" blog. So I agree with your desire to post a bit less frequently... I think it's less stressful, not feeling the tug to post every single day!
