Wooden Fork

We went to James' 50th birthday party tonight (Happy Birthday James!!!) and it was a potluck and the flatware provided was wooden! Never seen anything like this before but it was pretty cool. And I didn't get any splinters.

While waiting for the truck to show up at work the other day, I noticed this high contrast profile view of one of the guys I work with so I snapped a quick shot of him because I thought it looked kinda cool.

Steps

I walked up these steps today right before the rain came down that drenched me on my walk home from town. 10 minutes later and it would have been coming down too hard to take a photo without an umbrella.

Strummin' Drummer

Um whoops I like totally forgot to post a photo yesterday and stuff, so here's a quick one from band practice last night. This is our drummer Conrad (well that's Mister Conrad to you) plunking away on my guitar and crooning during a break. He's actually quite good.

Colored Asphalt

Well that project that I've been working on just got a whole lot closer to launch today. But it's still not quite there, so for now here's this shot. I noticed this on the parking lot as I walked up to my work truck today and had to get a shot of it. Can you tell what it is?

Collective Soul

Blew down to the Neptune Theater in Seattle and saw this great band. Awesome venue. Awesome show. And now it's way past my bedtime.

Rainy Windshield

I went down to the waterfront after dinner hoping to shoot some of the mists I saw in the trees out the back window - I really thought it was foggy out, but when I got down there it was starting to rain. And, no fog. So I shot some humdrum photos out the driver's window and the passenger window, and then I shot this one of the droplets on the windshield. It looked better than the others (especially if you click on it) so after some P/S, here it is.

I said "Hold it right there.... actually, back up a bit" and whipped out my camera and Shannon flashed me a little pose under the natural frame of this overgrown arbor. I just wish the sign wasn't back there behind her, but I don't think the owners would have appreciated me taking it down...

Do you notice anything about this truck? It jumped right out at me so I had to take a picture. (but then I play a Fender Strat so I would notice such a thing).

Tiny Teva

Compact Fluorescent

Sometimes on these daily photos, it's all about the photo, and sometimes it's more about what to write about it. Tonight - it's just about the photo because frankly, I don't have much to say about this one. Other than just that I shot this way, way under exposed (as far as what the camera thought it should be) so that the spiral detail was visible, but then the surroundings were completely black, so I hit it with a strobe to brighten it up a bit so the rest of it would show up. Oh, that and this is on my ceiling, so I rotated the image so it's upside down. But it sorta looks right-side-up kinda doesn't it?

Roast Beef

This is one of the photos I referred to in yesterday's post, and I'm choosing it today not so much for photographic value, but rather to ask a question. Can someone tell me what's up with the bright iridescent colors on roast beef? I've seen it on sliced ham lunch meat as well. I'm guessing it's not natural (but I'm no doctor). Is that chemicals? Is it growth hormones they give the cows? Or is it for flavor? (sure was a delicious sandwich....)

Outtake

Out-takes, bloopers, mistakes, ah-shoots, um-whoops... you get the idea... if it was film, this would be on the cutting room floor. Luckily, it ended up in my photostream and I took a 2nd look at it. In some pretty tough company of a chicken at the veterinarian, a funny bumper sticker, and the colorful chemicals on my sliced roast beef sandwich today, this one won the honor for today's daily photo.

Clothespins

I was playing around with a lens my brother let me borrow - (100mm prime f/2.8) looking at shallow depth of field stuff just for fun, when I came upon our clothesline. (And yes, for you hawk-eyes out there - I did a shot similar to this in 2009.)

Shindig

That's my mom in her favorite rowboat "Shindig" out saying hi to us at Turn Island this weekend. My brother put a crew of buddies together and we all worked on a video idea he had. Many cameras, booms, microphones, a remote cable dolly with wireless video monitoring, and me playing the parts of Young Eric and Old Eric (my first acting gig). It's in post production now and maybe in a month or two I'll be able to put up a link to it when it is completed. We had a great time. And what a great surprise to see my folks. That's my dad just out of frame to the right. (Sorry Dad! I'll get a better shot of you next time! LOL)
