January 20th - Making the Go Juice

I promise I'll try to not do too many nighttime photos, but once again, today I was working with a client off-island and wasn't able to shoot until after I missed both the 5:05 and the 5:45 ferries - So now I have plenty of time and I've always wondered when driving by the refineries on March Point just outside of Anacortes, what they would look like when photographed at night. Well here's my answer. 20 sec. f/25 iso 800

  1. 20 seconds does wonderful things with the vapor and water, eh? And it also pulled in some blue in the sky. How long after sunset was this?

  2. This was shot at about 5:35 or so. I brightened it a bit with photoshop. to bring out the blue some more. Also, after doing that I noticed the power lines going right through the sky that I hadn't noticed when shooting. So I PS'd those out as well.

  3. So - not long after sundown, cool.

Hey, I like night shots - make no promises about what you'll shoot and what you won't. I bet you'll see something at night again and want to share (I'm hoping anyway)

  4. It is the dark season, you are supposed to communicate that in your art, aren’t you?
Thanks for this, I look for your picture each morning.

  5. Good points, both of you! And living on an island, there will probably be more ferry pictures before the year is out too! Thanks for your thoughts!
